  • Running a car whilst at college.

Apologies if this is a repost, however I couldn't find anything on this topic.

I've only been driving a couple of months and have recently insured my car (before being accepted on a cadetship.) I am hoping to take my car to STC in September for a few reasons. Is there anyone who has done the same or would advise against it? I understand the financial restrictions there will be and I'm planning to save enough money in my current job to pay for a years insurance and general running for my first year at STC.

    Cheers.

In general, if you can afford it and you want to use the car then fair enough. Plenty of people bring cars to Warsash and I'm assuming STC is the same.

Car or no car, it's a really good idea to work out a budget in advance so that you know you'll be financially "safe" during your cadetship.

You may be able to pause your policy while you're away, depending on which company your policy is with. If you do that you need to remember that the car won't necessarily be covered for fire/theft.

Thanks, I think as long as I work out a budget in advance and have some money saved then it will be viable. I know my insurance is around ?100 a month, and I will probably be using less fuel having it there than I use at the moment. Easier for taking things from home to college I guess too. If it gets too expensive or I don't have enough left over each month I'll have to leave it, at the moment it's fine because I'm paid weekly.

Nothing to do with cars but is your profile picture one of you on Bokkers? Only ask as my daughter is mad on them and has some 7 League Raptors and bounces and runs everywhere like Tigger! Last year she asked her mum if she could go to a gym to learn to back flip. I got the wife to paint the ceiling whilst she was up there!

Gym is incredible. I missed out when I was younger and so did it while at uni. The girls at gym were the toughest I'd ever met, so you should definitely let her give it a go

Sorry, think you missed what I meant:

She is trying to learn to do this. She needs to practice in a gym first, over mats or a gymnastics pit.

oh nice! well still, get her into a gym and learning tumbling. She'll learn loads and will probably make her safer on her boots
