What certificates are required for Deck Cadets in order to practice on Oil Tanker?

STCW Basic Safety Training. This comprises Elementary First Aid, Personal Survival Techniques, Basic Firefighting, and Personal Safety and Social Responsibility. This is the same no matter what type of ship you step on board as a cadet.

Additionally many companies insist on all personnel on board having done a Tanker Familiarisation course, but this isn't strictly required.

If you get a place on a cadetship your company will arrange all these don't go paying for them yourself. You don't need them to apply and would cost a fortune to do them all.
