  • Bibby Ship Management

Hello all! Hope you have had a good Easter.

Does anyone have any experience with Bibby Ship Management?

Has anyone been offered an interview etc? If so how long for a conditional after?

    Any information would be great!

I?m a phase 1 engine cadet with Bibby. Great company, the phase 3 and 5?s ive spoken to said they had a great time with the ships they were on and have had no issues when a t college. The cadet training team are really good to and they have a lot of respect around college.
As far as an offer, I had an interview on Friday and had an offer the following Monday. This was a September interview for a Febuary start. The other phase 1 engineer here had about a 2 week wait for an offer. For my intake they took 2 deckies and 2 engineers and it looks like they took one from each interview session they did around the country.

Good luck and if you have any questions just ask.

Bibby have a very good reputation, good ships and believe the cadets also serve and eventually have the opportunity to serve upon the Stragetic Sealift Ro-Ro

I had mine at South Tyneside, the other engineer had his as Warsash. Yeah all cadets do a trip on the Stragetic Sealift Ro-Ro?s (Foreland Shipping), all brit crews and good routes. They will also put you on other ship types with Foreign crew so you don?t miss out on that side.

How are the interviews conducted? Are they formal with a panel or relaxed like Clyde Marine?

I don't know a great deal about their cadet program and what not but their offshore support/dive support vessels are state of the art.

It was a mix of the two really. Started out more formal and ended up with just informal chatting. I was interviewed by the training manager and cadet training officer.

                Hope that answers your question

There doesn't seem to be an awful lot about how their interviews are conducted etc. Clyde Marine seem to give the questions they will ask on their site :/ Any advice is appreciated!

I used to work on the Foreland ships and I would thoroughly recommend them for cadets, British officers, many of whom are recently qualified and will know what you need to do for your TRB, a variety of runs, decent ships and for engineers regular port stays and lots of maintenance.

Not sure about what life on the other Bibby ships is like as a cadet, but as a company they are a fairly decent outfit.

Ive just had an interview with Bibby for a junior ETO role with Foreland shipping and Im a bit confused by the naval reservist element.

Do you have to obey military law when you're on board and the ship is operating in peacetime as it were?

Is it like a watered down version of the RFA?

The RFA isn't actually Military, they only think they are. The vessel's are on charter to the MOD, who send them about or keep them tied up as they see fit.

When it comes to working on board them, a pal of mine did and he never mentioned anything about obeying any other Military laws and requirements.

Best thing to do is to call them up and ask. They won't be nasty or fault you for them....
