  • Clyde Marine Interview

    Hey everyone

I have just been invited to an interview with Clyde Marine in London in just over a few weeks. Could anyone who had a CMT interview in London recently tell me about the experience... was it quite relaxed and conversational or pretty tense? Plus is it all individual face to face interviews or is it more of a group assessment style?

    Cheers

Starting to get pretty nervous about it now.

there are a few threads on Clyde interviews, but I'll give you a quick version of mine.

The interview is points based. You'll be asked a series of questions while they make notes of your answers. When you've gone they'll assign points to your answers and use your total to determine whether you'll get a place, and who gets first dibs on sponsor companies etc. Some of the questions are quite closed so don't be worried if you're answering 'yes' or 'no', but give details (to show you've done your research and understand the industry) when you can.
Can't give you any company specific questions (See yellow box at top of page), but make sure you learn the crib sheet they send you. You will be asked a random question or two about any of the facts on there.

Make sure you have answers prepared for obvious questions such as 'Why do you want to go to sea?'.
Before you ask (lots of people do) you must wear a suit. It doesn't have to be an expensive designer suit, but this is a (potential) job interview with ?60k+ of sponsorship riding on it. You wouldn't give that kind of money to someone in jeans and a t shirt.

Head over to the interview tips thread: http://www.officercadet.com/showthre...ew-Tips-Thread
read it all and pay particular note to everything Hatchorder says.

    Good luck

Good to hear. You'd be surprised how many people on here ask if they need to wear a suit

oh for gods sake, keep quiet. You will set Guinnessman off on one of his rants about turning up naked to impress them again!

            Oh really?
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.....
