Guest repliedI'm in the RNR mate so i'll have that for a bit extra cash at least. I didn't realise you could get one off jobs so easily tbh

Just to clarfiy about the part time job bit, I was more thinking about the very casual work that Warsash has available. Apparently there's a notice board /email that gets updated each week with things that need doing, and you just sign up to do a one off job. Plus I've found watersports work to be really flexible.

Yeah of course, but it seemed the essentials had already been covered
I'll be quitting my job in September as well, but when living on campus, it's easy enough to get work done in the evenings if you're disciplined, or even on Saturdays (leaves Sunday as a safety net in case something is harder than expected), which then leaves half the weekend free to have fun/earn a bit of spending money. Some of the financial packages going from some companies are just enough to cover rent and food. It's not going to affect my choice in the end, it's just good to know. Apparently if I get an offer from Clyde, they'd like to send me there.

Sadly the college doesnt have the rya courses and watersport rental like warsash. There is a dinghy club down by the beach but the North Sea doesnt seem very inviting to me.
I'd agree about part time jobs, but I know a few people who have worked in bars etc.

Guest repliedNot sure if they have boats or not. To be honest though mate it's about the college not the extras. You're gonna be spending a lot of time at sea anyway and I doubt you'd have time to sail and work ect. Especially part time jobs I'd say are a no go. I'll be quiting mine when I join in September so I can knuckle down and get through this part of it all then just get on with my career

Did anyone check out the sailing facilities? Do they have their own boats like warsash? Opportunities to get part time work at the weekend? I couldn't make it otherwise I would have had a look myself

I'm going...
Last year I went the whole hog, suit and tie, fancy shoes, etc. When I got there though, I was surprised to see most of the attendees were in jeans and T-shirts. This year I'm thinking of taking a smart-casual approach, suit but no tie sort of thing.

There is no official dress code - but then again you are meeting representatives from the companies - some of whom do handle the recruitment...
From helping out at the WMA ones when I was a cadet - most of the visitors were smart/casual or wearing suits - there were a few in jeans and t-shirts though...
