Clyde Marine- Sponsoring companies

Hello folks,
I have got a conditional offer from Clyde Marine for the FD route in Glasgow, and I know that you only find out your sponsoring on day 1 of college. However, I have heard that with some companies that Clyde Marine represent, they will let you know before college. Is this true? and does anybody have any previous experience of this?

You will only find out your company before College if you are invited to interview by one of the few companies that conduct their own interviews. I know Chevron interview, so do Gulfmark and I think a few others. Basically, you probably won't find out until you've started and not normally on the first day either...

Right ok, well thanks for the response, if im honest is seems quite wrong that you only find your sponsoring companies once you are at college, because you could be put with a not so good companies, and have no choice in the matter. However, like many of the guys on here have said, the most important thing is getting my cadetship.

That is exactly why they do not tell you in advance. It is a bait-and-switch scam.

I was interviewed before I was given my contract and told who I was with. I didn't sign my contract until it was 100% confirmed either

right ok, and who was the company that interviewed you? and how long did you leave before signing your contract? The reason I ask, is because I don't want to wait 2-3 months before signing my contract in case I get a better offer from a company directly, which is just Clyde Marine around tbh.

I was interviewed by Chevron and after that they told me I would be taken on. The difference between you and I is that I applied 1 month before the college started so it was days really.
