    Got the email today that I was going on observer trip with Boston Putford on the trader. I go on the 31st July for three weeks and any experiences or advice would be much appreciated!

    congrats, i enjoyed mine just show plenty of interest and try not make to much mess when they go make you paint lol

          Excellent, I think trips like that are a fantastic way to get a feel of whether or not a career at sea is for you.

          As above, go along, be as enthusiastic as you can be, even when you are tired and just want to go to / stay in bed, be on time or early every time you are asked to be somewhere and enjoy your time.
          Go out, do stuff

              when i went on mine, it is the oldest vessel in the whole putford fleet and and i was bunking in the hospital ward

                  i had a bit of everything which was good, which was good seeing that i didn't get seasick. But after a few days you just get just use-to the motion of the ocean.

                    If you don't mind my asking, how did you go about getting your place on the trip? It sounds like a valuable experience and something I'd be interested in

                      its only couple companies that offer it, we are both Boston Putford cadets that are offered the trip to make sure we the like being on the sea.

                        Because our company works very different to say a container ship in the carribean they test us on the rough north sea and the waiting around quite a lot of the time to see if we can cope
