  • A strange happening...

Today I recieved a voicemail from a lady at Bibby Ship Management, asking me to ring back regarding a cadetship application. The reason that this is slightly odd is that I never actually applied to Bibby on account of not having the proper qualifications, and also their recruitment is closed for both September and January. I'll ring them tomorrow as I recieved the voicemail after office hours and in the middle of a urban combat range in Lydd.

Anyone have a take on this? Are Bibby headhunting cadets or something?

Remind me who else you applied to other than Carisbrooke?

Bibby is actually probably one of the best cadetships in my opinion, some great fun ships under their management.

You should have answered! I'm sure the sounds of a full on gun battle going on in the background would probably help your application!

*sigh* (Now you can have three pints!)
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.....

            Wooh, Guinness!

Just got off the phone from Bibby and they said they had a mailed copy of my CV and not much else, but the thing that interested them was my Army service and was I still interested?

I'm still very confused as to how they got my CV, unless I was sending them off in my sleep or something?

I did wonder if they have some sort of relationship with one of the training groups you applied to. They might be interested in you for Foreland. Or could be that they man some other paramilitary ships.

Could do a hell of a lot worse than bibby. If it was irene you are dealing with she was exceptionally helpfull with me. Even though i went anglo eastern

The reason she is interested in your army experience is because she puts cadets on the foreland strategic lift roro's that shift milatary equipment.

And i am pretty sure companies pass cv's between eachother as they may see another company as being more suibtable.

Ah, thanks for telling me that guys. Well its nice to know that a few other people out there saw me and wanted me, so to speak.

The funny thing is I actually quite fancied working for Foreland but due to Bibby not accepting cadets for the HND programme I didn't apply. Weird how things happen eh?

James Fisher have a financial interest in Foreland Shipping and may have forwarded your cv to Bibby, who have the crewing contract for Foreland in that capacity. The Foreland ships are great for cadets as they have all British crew and some interesting trips with more time in port than most ro-ro's. Your army experience would probably be useful when loading in Marchwood as you may be able to translate from English to Military and vice versa.
