  • Royal Fleet Auxiliary-Aspiring cadet

    Hi Guys

I thought I'd introduce myself to this forum as it asked me to do so on joining, but also because it seems like an awesome source of information! I'm in the process of applying for Cadet Officer in the Royal Fleet Auxiliary (Just waiting for dates for the recruitment test)
Initially I was applying for the Royal Navy as a Warfare Officer, however I was put off by the waiting times (up to 3 years atm). Then when looking at the RN website I noticed a bit about the RFA, and was extremely impressed with what they did! And now I can't stop thinking about joining them. It's the type of career that i really want for long term, which I couldn't imagine with any other job!

I've read a lot about the recruitment process, which sounds very daunting to be fair, but do-able. So far I've found some great information on this website and would welcome any kind of help whether from current officers, people in the same position as me or people who have been accepted, immensely!!

    Thanks for reading

      Hey Mitch

I phoned the number 08456 04 05 20 and asked for details and an application form on the position I wanted.
They are only recruiting cadet deck officers and cadet marine engineers atm.

If you go to this website it tells you all about the roles

            Hey Tommo

The minimum age is 16 for both cadet roles.

            good luck!

The RFA are more likely to take mature cadets on with more life experience than other companies that focus on cadets straight from school.

Most companies take a spread of ages these days, the law doesn't allow them to discriminate, unless you have a particular company in mind?
