Hi everyone,

I had my interview for Clyde marine a month ago and recently they sent me a letter confirming i had a place with them in September 2012! (After the governments decision on merchant navy spending and what not) So a big thanks to everyone who gave me advice for the interview!

So, What happens next?! When do they generally contact you about your sponsoring company as i have already decided on my 3 options (I know, rather early :P )

You will now get a few bundles of paper work that will take you hours to fill in, so have fun with that! Once all that's done you probably wont hear from them again until the college joining instructions come out.

Unless one of the company's you have picked want to have an interview with you, then probably you wont know until the first day of college when CMT come to visit you.

Went for my interview with CMT last Thursday..Does anyone know when I would most likely hear back from them? and if I am not accepted, will they tell me or will I just have to assume I have been unsuccessful?

I heard back within 2 days when I joined Clyde. But that was before all this funding shake up, so times may have changed.

Companies i have picked:

1) Subsea7
2) Royal Caribbean International
3) Magical Cruises/Stena (Undecided)

I would not hold your breath for the 2 cruise companies, there are *very* few places available. You may get lucky, but I doubt it!

I interviewed last Monday in Southampton. I was told it would be a few weeks due to the funding issues. As the OP said, his decision from interview time took a month so don't get too disheartened if you don't hear back right away.

I was categorically told I'd know "in two weeks"- the interviewers must have different ways of picking candidates, maybe?

Yes, but do you know if they will send me a letter/E-mail whatever the decision? As I don't want to be held in suspense if they don't want me.

If they don't get back to you, chase them up. Nothing wrong with showing a keen interest in the career and ultimately the next few years of your life.

I got a letter about the funding issues; which meant that I'd passed the interview. I did have to ring and check. They say there's still some hoo har, about funding though; and that they will be letting people know in the not too distant.
