  • Maersk Interview - Travel!

Anyone going from Glasgow to Newcastle on Monday the 20th for the interview day starting at 9am? Just looking for a wee bit of help getting down there, cheapest buses/trains etc. and how to get to and from Stockbridge House and the train station/bus station/whatever (:

    I AM SO NERVOUS! haha.

There are trains leaving from Edinburgh that arrive around 7am. My mum reckons I should go the night before, but the train tickets are costing a fortune, travel expenses are only refunded up to ?150. If only Megabus had a Glasgow-Newcastle haha.

There is a reason why I drive at weekends and use trains, though try National Express they do cheap tickets, you could probably do it for 40-50 quid that way

If only I could drive. National Express was coming up around ?90, East Coast seems to be the cheapest so far, thanks though.

Oh yes haha, it sucks. My train home from Preston last night only cost ?3, Virgin through Megabus, hence why I think Megabus should do a Glasgow - Newcastle route.

Are you eligible for some sort of railcard? And to be honest I would go with what your old dear has said, travel down the night before, kip in travel inn, and rock up at the interview fresh as a daisy. Theres also the plus that you're not flapping about missed connections or delayed trains, and if you book travel now on an advance ticket it will be way cheap.

Yeah I use my car ?20 each way in diesel so I can't complain and going the night before isn't a bad idea

I did pretty well on the Maths tests but haven't heard anything yet either. Hopefully we are on the Maersk "to do list" for tomorrow.

As some one mentioned book train now on trainline.com should be very cheap, I used to get Hull-->Glasgow 1st class for less than paying on the day for Standard Class.....god knows how that works but, need to book about 2 weeks to 10 days out, though it does tie you to certain trains / times etc, but still you get the gist

Aw I'm going down from Glasgow, but my interviews the 17th! Anyway, I found the trains to be pretty good. I'm looking at two different options but both are around ?30 for a return, down on the 16th and back on the 17th. I just went through scotrail but will probably be because I have a young persons railcard and thats its a thurs/fri. I know someone else has already said this but might be worth getting a railcard? Always handy to have anyway. Good luck!!
