  • Sponsor Companies.

Alright all start GCNS engineering cadetship in September through Clyde Marine. Just wondering from people who have went through this route before if they got 1 of their 3 choice sponsor companies or got sum1 total different.

    My choices were
    1:Royal Carribbean
    2:Zodiac
    3:Africa Express line

Whats chances of getting any of them? I no Royal Carib will be highly saught after.

Also if any1 works with either my 3 choices could you let me know what the companies r like to work with.

    Cheers

If I was you, I wouldnt count on getting the royal carribean line.
    Everyone applies for that one.
Zodiac is quite likely as they seem to take a hell of a lot of cadets on per year....
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.....

Good, you picked Z so you won't be upset when that's who you're sponsored by; Buhahahahaha! How is your conversational Russian? Like Bulgarian cuisine?

There is a whole thread dedicated to the delights of the Zebedee Shipping Corp., so I won't bother doing anything other than post this link.

So the chances of getting Zodiac are quite high then. What about if they weren't one of your top choices?
Are they really that bad? I know someone who is sponsored by them and reckons they are okay.

I thought that Royal Caribbean employed more Norwegians than other Europeans.

It's a mixture on RCI. They don't have a very large cadet program. Your best bet is to train on other ships, preferably cruise, and then apply for a job once you qualify.

They mainly employ qualifed deck officers from the UK fleet.

                  Re: Sponsor Companies.

Royal Carribean only hired one cadet when I started and there was a good 120 of us all sitting there.

Zodiac did hire the most cadets though...

I wasn't even aware they had a cadetship scheme. At least, not over here. An officer on my last ship was with RCI for years and he seemed to think they only took on qualified officers.

What do you think of Holland America Line? I heard that if I go with Viking I'll most likely be working with them. I'll go for an interview with Viking, but Clyde Marine seems like a safe choice, even if I'd feel a little neglected as they take on sooo many cadets. I want my first choice with CMT though, which is Dole...I don't know anyone else that chose Dole haha.
