i know that they want to scan your finger prints but i recently broke my wrist and have in in a cast so cant move my fingers and thumb properly. do they scan your whole hand at once or one finger at a time?
I know this might sound like a weird question but cheers anyway.
    Entire hand on the scanner

Bus journey from hell! If the gits at Clyde had given me more than 5 days notice I would have paid out of my own pocket to fly down. On top of that I have to share a bus with 30 teenagers ODing on E numbers because they aren't allowed alcomahol. It wasn't the worst day of my life, but it's in the top ten.
Thanks for the warning. When did you go to get your Visa with Clyde? At the start of college or nearer the end of Phase 1?

            Re: U.S. Visa "Worries"

Everyone seems to have had a bad experience, apart from me!

I had to fill the forms out myself (I'm a Maersk boy, like shifty) and pay for it and claim it all back, but i did the application in 55 minutes and it only took about ?25 worth of phone calls to get an appointment (call early on a Saturday morning for a good chance) Then the trip itself was good and calm. Bonus being my current job involves playing with trains so i got free travel in speshul class and fed. i had my appointment booked for 1030, i got to the ugliest building in London for about 10 and got inside by 1010. I had left after paying out ANOTHER ?15 for delivery of the visa by 1130 and i was back on the train home for 1203.

Quite a pleasant morning out really

Just so you all know having a Visa means you WILL be stoppeda t the airport on arrival to join a ship and you WILL be given extra screening.

Dont ask why I have no idea but having the Visa does not in any way shape or form make things easier when joining in the US. If you come in to US on a ship it can be a pain too, last we docked at 0300 and Immigration got EVERYONE out thier beds for passport control (Chiefy is always up for arival) meant no one was very happy the next morning. Bunch of septic tanks Oh and for gods sake always cll them "sir" or "M'am" otherwise they think you are being disrespectful.... personally I can live without going to the USA ever

              rant ends

No I do not report things from here to them as they are quite able to come and read this stuff for themselves.

                Define: Extra screening?

would it involve latex and the 11th and 25th letters of the alphabet in a gelatine based format?

                  LOL no

at Miami you go sit in a glass box and answer the same questions as normal while they look at your passport and file! You are plainly a terorist from englandshire

I suppose one solution would be to get dual nationality.

Sounds fun... i shall be sure to be my usual miserable British tourist self. I don't speak American so if i shout English loudly at them they should understand.

Im an Engineer so we were there for 6 months in first phase and I went down in November to get my visa. Alcohol was banned on the bus, but I do remember seeing the odd "coke" bottle on board.
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.....
