  • Little question about CMT

Sent away the online application form last night, did anyone receive an automatic reply from them? Thought I might have got one but I didn't.

Hi Donny, the first you will hear from CMT will be a confirmation letter through the post.

    Good luck

No automatic reply for me either. However, I just rang and spoke with them. They said to wait it out as they've currently got 700+ to sift through.

I'm with clyde marine now and i got all off my replies through the post, they took a while to send a reply to me for the same reason. I think it was about 4-5 month before I heard anything.

Wow 700 cadets? I remember when I applied for my cadetship, they were essentially short of applicants, and I was a straggler who turned up to the interview half sobor so was accepted. It all went downhill from their. Anyhoos, keep in touch with them, follow up with the occasional e-mail and do your best to keep your name at the top of the pile.

          Good luck.

I got that very same feeling when I had an interview with them in 2005!

Please don't take this the wrong way, but I have noticed more and more postings where applicants almost expect an immediate reply from sponsors and a guaranteed cadetship at the end of it. As has been stated, there is a huge increase in cadet numbers which has led to far greater class sizes in college and less opportunity for one to one time with tutors who are being stretched to the limit; this has become a hugely popular career choice and competition for places is exceptionally high.
At Warsash we have even found that in some lessons there are not enough desks for all of the students and nearly every room in the college is in constant use...hopefully this is a positive sign that the worldwide shortage of seafarers will soon come to an end.

Hopefully not, I like the supply and demand scenario we have at the moment, keeps our salaries nice and high :-)

i believe i was in the last batch of people who were not in a highly competitive group, me and 3 other people from my town applied quite late, me being the latest i applied in the middle of november 2010 and was away in january 2011 to glasgow.

Although i believe the gods had something to do with my application as i had already been waiting for 2.5years for a job in the royal navy.

Anyhow me and my class mates do consider ourselves quite lucky, i have been trying to ge tmy little brother interested and get his application in for anything / everything as soon as possible.

                        good luck lads.
                        "My Job"

It's not my place to run the boat
the fog horn I can't blow.

It's not my place to say just where
                        the boat's allowed to go

It's not my right to dock the boat
                        or even clang the bell

                        But let the damn thing
start to sink AND SEE WHO CATCHES HELL!
