  • Viking Interview!

    Hi all,

I have an upcoming interview with Viking soon and was just wondering if they do anything special in them eg aptitude/maths test?
Also - any tips on types of questions they are gonna ask?
Its on behalf of HAL if thats any use at all? I have gone through all the information they have given me about 10 times! but just wondering about any exta tips?

    Thanks

Well Viking are the sister company to Chiltern Maritime who administer the Trinity House scheme. So maybe the interview will be similar to the TH one. There weren't any tests at the TH interview, just interview questions.

I'd take a look at the HAL website.

      Hello again!

The sticky Big Interview Tips thread has lots of general questions and tips in it. Can't be too specific about individual company procedures.

You'll probably have both some aptitude and maths tests - don't worry too much about them. (Though if they aren't mentioned in the invite letter then perhaps not...) Revise your GCSE maths - trigonometry, vectors and transposing and solving formulae are particularly relevant to the deck course.

Do you have customer service experience? Your job is not primarily customer facing but you will need to show an aptitude for socialising with passengers and presenting the right image.

Have a search for cruise (Carnival/Princess/HAL) interviews on the forum and some more should come up.

I have been trawling around their sites quite a lot! but shall have a quick root around the TH one too now

Cool - I have no information about those tests at all but shall still have a flick through my old revision guide now! Thanks! Yeah - I do - worked in a holiday boat yard whilst at school college for years and now work in Pizza Hut so have loads of that sort of experience! Have searched that and found quite a few other useful tips Thankyou 272

I've recently applied for Princess Cruises, I just sent them my C.V, about 6 days ago, nothing more. I'm thinking now, I should have maybe sent a cover letter though as well?

Yes I work for the big blue canoe company.
No I do not report things from here to them as they are quite able to come and read this stuff for themselves.

I will give it a go, and if I don't get anywhere, I'm blaming you.

                  Hey guys,

Had the interview a few days ago and I think it must have all gone OK because I've been offered a September place. Just missed out on January apparently but from what I hear about HAL I'm quite happy to wait till then!

And when I applied to Princess I found I got a lot more response by e-mail than post really if that helps?

Well done. I was on a HAL ship and the deck cadets had a great time.
