The blazer isn't really used anymore, and it isn't a requirement now. I haven't bought one yet simply because it's going to cost a bit of money for the sake of wearing it on the odd occasion.

Yeah I shall get myself a black tie... hopefully SSTG will get me a company one out soon.

So we reckon no blazer is fine? I used to be in the Royal Navy see and have a few nato jumpers so don't see the point in buying a blazer when everyone might be wearing these jumpers.

Clydemarine told me to get a black tie, so I'd probably get one for yourself just so you have a tie. First impressions and all that.

Although I bought 2 ties before it dawned on me that I'd probably be supplied with a company tie and the black one was just to do me for first few weeks. haha

Maybe it would be worth getting a black tie unless the company provide one? Apart from that I think you'll be fine.

    Ah right,

At the moment I'll be turning up first day with just the black trousers, black shoes, white shirt and nato jumper....no tie or company endorsements, will this attire land me in anyones bad books?

    Hi Rowdy,

It depends on the company you're with - SSTG provide their own tie and epaulettes, however, I'm going to get a set of my own just in case.

Thanks everyone for your help - I'll be going with Miller Rayner.

    Jack.

I didn't realise we were required to purchase our own epaulettes? For the first day I have black shoes, black trousers, pilot shirt and blue nato jumper. Also thought companies supplied there own ties/badges? Aint seen any of those!

    Hi Jack,

Thanks a lot - I'm hoping they will get back to me tomorrow with a quote. How long did they take to get back to you with one?

    Jack.

    Hi CD,

I think I'll probably go with Miller Rayner. Really I'm looking for the supplier that'll deliver relatively quickly; within a week if possible. Unfortunately I've only just found out that there has been a mix up over the uniform. The company seemed to indicate that they were going to get the uniform after they had sent out a form for measurements, but it's turned out that this was just for work gear like the boiler suit etc. I start college on the 11th, hence I'll need it fairly quickly.

Like you say I'm just looking for the college rig really, just the general gear.

    Thanks for your help,

    Jack.

Miller Rayner are reasonable value, and perhaps one of the best known. My experiences with SM Bass aren't brilliant, but their prices are good. Clyde Marine Uniforms seem to have good prices too.

There are others, particularly Naval Outfitters (Bauns) where the quality might be better but the prices reflect that.

What are you looking for specifically? Just college rig - pilot shirts, trousers, eps, wooly pully?

    Best Uniform Supplier?

    Hi all,

I have a sponsorship with SSTG (Seatruck Ferries).

Which would be the best uniform supplier to go to? I'm currently waiting on a quote form Miller Rayner, but I thought in the mean time it might be good to find out a bit more about the various suppliers.

Also, how quick are delivery times usually?

    Thanks in advance,

    Jack.
