  • Safety Shoes/Boots for college?

Anyone have good suggestions of where to get safety shoes and boots for college at a reasonable price and 'comfortable'?

get a set of riggers, ebay, ?20 max.

It's not my place to say just where
    the boat's allowed to go

It's not my right to dock the boat
    or even clang the bell

    But let the damn thing
start to sink AND SEE WHO CATCHES HELL!

Riggers vary wildly in price, the nice lined comfy ones will be higher in price than ?20! Mine were bought cheap in a supplies store many moons ago and as they are a size too big for me I wear them with 2 pairs of thick socks, which means I stay warm as well! I also got a pair of insoles for them so am comfy as anything in them.

I rocked up to my new ship yesterday and when I went on deck the crew seemed to love my riggers, so i'd recommend getting them :d Mines are a size 12 though :P

Ah the world of the internet where you always claim its bigger than it really is
you can take it with a pinch of salt, but i prefer it with a nip of whisky

                Or smaller....

Anyway, the only problem with riggers is transporting them, they are pretty bulky. Bearing in mind that most ships will provide you with safety shoes (they have an obligation to) I'd suggest not bothering taking them on ship, however, if you are a silly size such as my .... feet, then consider taking them with you. Most ships I've been on have managed to provide safety shoes (which will be needed on cruise ships certainly, as rigger boots are the wrong colour to go with uniform [it's all about fashion dahhling]), but on occasions it's taken stooopid amounts of time for them to arrive.

So long as that next person isnt.............?

Personally I hate rigger boots but like lace up boots with ankle support / protection rather than shoes.

remember whatever you buy MUST be to BS standards and be Kite Marked etc otherwise they are just pretty steel toe capped going out shoes :0
