I know someone in my class who works on ferries and she goes home in her 2 weeks off, so I suppose yes, in your leave periods you would need to rent somewhere or live with family?

Mooring and unmooring every day does mean you get to know it like the back of your hand! I've had trips when I've looonged for a sea leg that lasts more than 36hrs!!

Generally you live on the ship, certainly CalMac you do, there might be a few places that have some crew in hotels but your unlikely to be sent there, coastla ferrys where your tied up everynight have a certain advantage over being deep sea as well

    Accomodation during Sea Phases?

    Hi everyone,

if I were to select a company like CalMac or Hovertravel, what happens with accomodation?

Do we have to rent out our own place?

Also, does anyone have experience of the James Fisher or Pacific Nuclear Transport companies?
