Thank you all for your replies.
To clarify - I'm not having cold feet & thankfully not ill.
The truth is that I have been offered a full time position with a good prospect of a job for the near future.
Don't get me wrong the Merchant Navy would the career of a life time with sights not many people can claim to have seen.
Obviously it was a tough decision to make, but would a life @ sea be for me, I may love the training but hate the sea?
I had to weigh up both sides and the full time position won.
I have informed CMT and awaiting a response. I thought it was the best option to be honest and let them know immediately.

you could guess that sometihng has come up that prevents him starting the course, or maybe even cold feet, if either are the case then a chat with the sponsor would generally let them know and rather than having them thinking ' oh hes chucked it we wont give him a place again ' quite often in these things its how you go about saying goodbye depends on what chances the future might hold

I'm sure some smart guy will come along with the answer soon, but I think.. since WILSON hadn't started the course yet, he's still never received SMarT funding, and also you could say he's not really done as much as quit the course. So I guess it might be fine, unless he said the wrong things when re-applying.
I'm curious as to what the story is. There must be a story behind this, but all we get so far is a teaser.

What happened mate? Hope everything's alright
I would like to think that I will have the opportunity to re-apply in the future.

Why did you decide to withdraw your sponsorship mate? If its not too much of a personal question to ask

Withdrawal of sponsorship - a tough decision!
Good afternoon all,
Well as the title denotes, I have made the decision to withdraw my sponsorship agreement with Clyde Marine Training.
I cannot emphasize enough how good Clyde Marine Training are and have been and I praise them for their kindness into sponsoring me in Sep 2011.
It was a really tough decision, but a correct one.
I wish the very best of luck to all who start in September 2011 and those who apply in the near future.
I would like to think that I will have the opportunity to re-apply in the future.
Thanks all,
Nathan.
