  • Carnival, MSC and Fred Olsen

    Hi

I have applied for an ETO cadetship with Carnival, and also have an interview with Chiltern about ETO cadetships with MSC cruises and Fred Olsen Crusies.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with any of these companies, and any opinions on if one company would be better than another?

    Thanks!

Hi, Fred cadet here. Not an ETO but have experience. They are a good company and take care of you. Mix of nationalities onboard especially in engineering and eto department. Only three ships though which are on the older side. Carnival would be good for a good range of ship types and age, although you should get a job with fred contracts are about 4:2. In my opinion Fred is a good option but if you get the chance to go with one of the big cooperations take. It!

      Hi!

I’m an ex-MSC Cruises deck cadet, now qualified. I’ve had a really good experience with them, minus being out-of-service due to covid but there was nothing they could do about that. They’re a fast growing company with tons more ships being built (great promotion opportunities), and they offer jobs straight after qualifying (no need for any additional interviews etc…). Its a mostly good environment onboard, it’s mostly Italian officers but tons of other nationalities.

Best of luck with your applications!
