Has anyone personal experience or any knowledge regarding what Paccship UK Ltd (Pacific Carriers Limited, PCL) are like as a sponsor? They are one of SSTG's members. Their website: http://www.pclsg.com/

Well they seem to be a good company from the experience ive had, although as a cadet you would be mostly working in asia aboard multi-purpose vessels. At my interview with them, they said that they have no british officers, so they try to buddy you up with another cadet, not always possible though!

All I could find was this, posted originally on Facebook in 2007, I believe, except it looks like they own more vessels than stated in the letter below.

          Dear [PYNDA] Members,
We are Paccship (UK) Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pacific Carriers Limited, Singapore and part
of the Kuok Group. Paccship (UK) was established in 2002 as a UK Tonnage Tax company. Currently, we own and manage fourteen vessels, comprising of feeder container ships, post-Panamax bulk carriers and multi-purpose vessels, all of which are trading world-wide. We have vacancies for up to eight Merchant Navy cadetships per year and we have a strong preference for older and more-highly qualified individuals who would be capable of pursuing sponsored, undergraduate-level courses and training.
Currently, we have four cadets under training at the University of Plymouth and we are keen to increase this number, if possible.
If there are any PYNDA members who know of any candidates who might be interested in a sponsored Merchant Navy cadetship, we would be pleased to hear from them. They can contact the undersigned directly or alternatively, through our Cadet Training providers, The Ship Safe Training Group (SSTG) for further information.

Paccship's parent company own alot more vessels, but paccship itself only operates around 14 ships that work on different contracts around th world (mostly asian based). If you are offered sponsorship by them, then you will only one work on one of those 14 ships, with your training officer trying to put you aboard a variety of ships so that you get the experience.

Nick, I'm a bit confused by you saying you only get to work on one ship, but your training officer tries to put you on board a variety of ships. Could you clarify for me please? I'm feeling a little simple tonight...

I think he meant other ships in other companies. (Probably from within the wider umbrella company)
