  • Maths for foundation degree (deck)

    Hey,

Due to start the foundation degree in september, was just wondering if anyone could give me any idea of the areas of maths that are studied most. I have a bit of time on my hands at the moment, and was just hoping to brush up a bit/ teach myself the basics so that i'm a bit more prepared when it comes to college.

    Thanks, Kyle.

Not 100% sure but I would guess it would involve a good bulk of equations, so algebra might be in there quite bit. I'd reckon a good bit of trig too. Again, not 100% sure.

You should get a maths cd from your sponsor before you join this has stuff in it to revise.

Basically covers everything from basic numeracy, ratios, percentages, algebra ( linear equations, quadratic equations, transposition factorising ), trigonometery, Mensuration ( areas and volumes of shapes ), Vectors and some other stuff get yourself a gcse or A level revision book if you want some practice there are a few more posts hanging about with some more info.

Check the wiki as well has a section on maths for the deckies.

I asked a guy about this at GCNS and he said to practise plane trigonometry and spherical trigonometry. Also I have a Higher (A Level) maths revision book and I just plan to work through that.
