Bikes at warsash

Bit of a random question, do many people have bikes, as in pedal bikes at warsash? it say's on the website that there's storage for them, what's this like?

How far is it to the shops and other places that you might want to travel to? Is it within cycling distance?

Just thinking about whether keeping the car is worthwhile as insurance is a joke!

There are plenty of cycle stands at the front of Shackleton building, although they seem quite open to the elements, I know a few people that carry their bikes to their rooms!

Depends on which shops you wish to go to, the big Tesco is about 4 miles away.

About 10 miles to southampton, is some shops and a co-op about 10 minutes walk.

There are a few places other than the bit mentoined above you can stash your bike on campus thou mainly they are not under cover. The one in front of Shackleton was also handily locked at the weekend ( not sure on the arrangements for this as I have found somewhere else to put my bike ).

Travel wise if you want to get out about much you will prob need your car. Buses tend to be once an hour in Warsash and most stop after 6pm.

On the flip side, when they say that car parking is at a premium here they mean it. There are usually no spaces during the day.

I read something about them having an overflow car park somewhere or am i imagining this?

Nope your absolutely right. There is an overflow at the Salterns Club (about 5min walk from the gate). Reception told me that this was only for parking during working hours but the accommodation lot told me it was any time.

And now half of that is to be boarded off and built on.... car parking at WMA is something to be desired.
