    Hi everyone
Ill just start by saying what a great site this is. In the last week I have sent applications for sstg Clyde and Maersk. Just a couple of questions. I have relatively good gcses all's B's and 2a's with BBC at a level. I also have a degree in business studies, though I don't have any maths qualifications after gcse. What are my chances of getting an interview and does any one who has applied lately have a rough idea of how long it would be before I find out?

    Re: application

I'll say you have a pretty good chance mate. I got accepted by Clyde and I do not have a degree and my A-Levels are not as high as yours. If you only have a maths gcse this shouldnt be an issue, if it is a C (in the higher paper) or lower they will most likely offer the HND course to you rather than the FD. However, the difference is questionable (if you look around the site you will see some good posts debating this) and you still get the same OOW certificate at the end of either course. Clyde got back to me within a few weeks of applying but I have heard reply time can depend on what time of year you apply.

        Re: application

Hi again, I still haven't received any replies from any companies apart from generic emails. Did anyone else apply around the same time as me? And how are your applications Progressing?

          Hi Whitey,

It will take time for you to hear back from any of the sponsoring companies.

For instance, I applied to Clyde in late October, I heard back in Mid-December, and then again in Mid-January.

This is a good opportunity to get studying and learning about the ships, vessel's, tankers etc that the Merchant Navy operate.

All the best and good luck.

              Re: application

Based on last year, I think the assessment day will be in April, so I'd give them another month before they reply
