Hey, thanks for the advice, I've downsized my box a little after considering the fact even if I got it down, I wouldn't physically be able to carry it to my room ! I just got rid of my spare trainers/boots/t-shirts that I can live without and, worst comes to the worst, I can just ask my mum and dad to send them down if I ever do need it. This is off topic, but can you use hair straighteners in your room? Because I remember reading that your not allowed to use heated appliances, but I'm not sure if this is just a 'rule' that no one follows? Thanks

I encountered this issue a lot when I was commuting to and from Warsash via Southampton Airport over the 3 years - basically flyBe will pretty much always leave your case behind because its too heavy for their aircraft (the good news is they will eventually deliver it to you - usually the next day).

Warsash won't have any problem accepting your package if you post it down, it's probably more a "will we injure ourselves trying to lift it to the store room" thing!

Word of warning: Your room (if its a shared room) will have 1 cupboard (approx. 1m2 of floor space and room height) and you'll have a chest of drawers with 3/4 smallish drawers in it). I know everyone does it the first time they go to college - and the first few times you go to sea, but you'd be surprised how little you actually need - not that that really helps you.

My advice would be to ensure you have all your important stuff with you on the aircraft and post the other stuff down (things like your safety shoes etc. can be posted you wont need them right away). Be aware that as I have said luggage likes to be left behind by airlines - if you're flying to London your most likely on a big plane so its less likely to happen to you - but if possible I would suggest sending at least 1 shirt and trousers in the box - just incase. If you forget anything, you can always get it posted down to you at some point.

The two guys I know that flew from Glasgow had to bring extra suitcases, however, I believe the cost of the extra baggage was paid for by their respective companies.

I've already booked the flight, I dont know why I booked it for London to then go on and get the train, it seemed like a good idea at the time :P

Ok, so I'm starting Warsash on Monday and last night I tried to pack my suitcase and there is no way that I can fit all my stuff into them, I don't even think I have a lot of stuff, just everything that was on that checklist. So I put my safety shoes, working clothes, normal clothes, toiletries and shoes into a box and weighed it and its 30kg.
I phoned Warsash to see if it was alright to send a box down and they said it was ok as long as it wasn't a fridge or anything but the box is still massive (62x63x41) so, do you think they'll still accept it? Even if by some miracle I managed to fit it all in by cabin case & suitcase, I'm limited to a 23kg weight because I'm flying down. I could pay for an extra suitcase but it means I'll have to carry it about on and off trains cause my flight's to London. Has anyone else had to do this? Thanks.
