How many months do you spend, on average, at college before you go off to sea on the HND deck officer course?

Until you're qualified to work at sea, when you've learnt the basics and done all of the mandatory courses i.e. first aid, fire fighting, survival etc.

I'm going to Fleetwood and my phase 1 is 18 weeks, your's should be pretty similar to that.

Not that long ago it was only 6-7 weeks. Enough for compulsory certificates and the most basic of knowledge. No point wasting time/money in college on those people who will drop out during/after their first trip.

phase one is from sept-april ( for sept intake) for january intake its jan-july, deckies is sept-march i believe, and feb-july

It will depend on the course you are studying and the college at which you study.

Does it matter if your doing a HND or foundation degree or is it about the same?
