Re: Insurance for my stuff
You don't really need insurance at sea as you will be covered by your sponsor. If you need medical treatment, they cover it, if you lose your laptop through piracy or loss of vessel then they might cover it (just to avoid any nasty stories in papers and industry magazines). Losing your laptop through utter stupidity whilst ashore then they don't cover it.
When it comes to insurance, you are covered from the second you leave your front door on the way to the airport, until you step foot back inside your home after you get back from the sea phase.

Re: Insurance for my stuff
Your laptop, etc. can most likely be covered under your parents home insurance policy - if not, yes you can get student coverage from Endsleigh.
Most travel insurance companies will insure your stuff when you are at sea, however you need to phone them and explain to them that you work on a ship and tell them what exactly you need coverage for (eg: you won't normally need medical coverage as pretty much every company will provide this as part of your contract) and the duration.

Insurance for my stuff
I'm starting at Warsash on the 24th of Jan.
I have been told that it would be a good idea to get insurance for my new laptop but I have heard that a lot of insurance won't cover damage at sea. This true?
Also, I was thinking about getting comprehensive cover for all my stuff including bicycle etc with a student insurance company like Endsleigh. Can I get student insurance as a cadet?
Boring questions but I want to replace stuff if it gets nicked or damaged.Tags: None
