Uniform for girls.

Hi, I'm joining Warsash at the end of the month and am trying to get my uniform sorted. In the instructions all it says is 'black skirt or trousers', I e-mailed my training officer and she said that any style would be fine as long as they're not too short, so I've bought 2 suit skirts, and 2 pairs of trousers, but is that generally what girls wear or do they usually just buy their skirt of the supplier?
Also, what sort of jumper do people usually wear? Do most people just buy them off the supplier, or would a basic v-neck primark one do?
And it says a working shirt & trousers.. this might sound stupid but what are they and where do you get them from? I've asked a few people and they don't know either.
And finally, on the list it says boiler suit & safety shoes but they have a '*' next to them, there's nothing to say why. Does anyone know if I've definitely to get these before I go? It doesn't say anything about the company supplying them in the booklet though.

The company should supply your PPE (boiler suit and safety shoes) - check with them to make sure. Which company is it? If it's Clyde, they delivered PPE to cadets early during the phase.

Don't worry about the working shirt/trousers - just have some old trainers/jeans/trackie bottoms for paintballing and your short courses - no jeans on the fire ground though. Also bring swimming gear for your PST course.

Strictly speaking, you should get a NATO jumper with epaulettes, though some people just wear plain black/navy jumpers to lectures. During your morning musters for the first few weeks you'll need the "correct uniform", so NATO jumper or blazer if you don;t want to freeze in just a shirt.

Trousers/skirt - any black ones will do as long as they're smart and around knee-length for skirts.

All the SSTG lot had safety bits from their individual companies, so I'd say you're sorted in that respect.

Most SSTG FOLK with SSTG myself included had to get our own PPE stuff and were then RE-Embursed later on , some companies a few weeks later then gave them there own Company PPE branded stuff etc.

Boilersuits and safety boots maybe be there with a star just in case your an usual size or shape and so might want to buy your own. I usually take a spare boilersuit with me to sea, but being an engineer i need one all the time, and a pair of boots that fit me well if i haven't joined that ship before/can't contact the ship before going.

The important thing here is Garfield, if you have any questions, at all, your company will always be happy to answer them and as long as you send them a nice polite e-mail they are obliged to reply, it is their job to make sure you get the most out of your training.
