I was wondering what kind of career opportunities are open to you shoreside. Either in the industry or outside.

You start giving the government 25% of your hard-earned; if that's not an incentive to stay afloat I don't know what is. There are as many jobs ashore in shipping companies, Class societies, Shipyards, underwriters as there are at sea; fancy being a Supernintendo and overseeing the clusterf*ck that drydocking/refit usually is?
