    Orals resources

    Hey,

I don't think we have a dedicated thread for deck orals resources, so I'll start one here with a few things in it, and if one already exists i'll add my stuff to that

Notice to mariners, Weely, Cummuliative and annual can be found here:
    http://www.ukho.gov.uk/ProductsandSe.../NMPublic.aspx

MSN 1781- Colregs, I assume everyone has a copy of these anyway, but I like the MCA one as you know it's 100% reliable, and has the advantage of Ctl+F that a text book doesn't! http://www.dft.gov.uk/mca/msn_1781-2.pdf

MSN 1676 The Merchant Shipping (Life-Saving Appliances for Ships Other Than Ships of Classes III to VI(A)) Regulations 1999 AND The Merchant Shipping (Life-Saving Appliances for Passenger Ships of Classes III to VI(A)) Regulations 1999

    http://www.dft.gov.uk/mca/mcga-mnoti...228EC6C52#s2p4

MCA Statutory Publications- Has some good SOLAS stuff.

    http://www.dft.gov.uk/mca/mcga07-hom...mcga-spubs.htm

MARPOL- The names and a brief look at the annexes, Also goes into details somewhere else on the site- Other conventions also listed.

    http://www.imo.org/About/Conventions...-(MARPOL).aspx

Code of Safe. Working Practices for. Merchant Seamen- Safety bible, I was told at college 70% of your oral exam can be found in this book

    http://www.dft.gov.uk/mca/coswp2010.pdf

    Radar plotting

    http://www.seamanshiptutor.com/rp/rp.html

    Buoyage test

    http://www.colreg.net/buoysquestions.htm

    Lights and shapes

    http://portfolio.wuthering-heights.c...rpcslights.htm

Anything you read from a website which doesn't come from an official source (IMO, MCA etc) I would learn, but clarify it with the official source to be on the safe side

I'll add more as I think of them, also, if anyone wants a copy of my, or any of my classmates orals reports (especially useful for Tyne Dock orals) Send me a PM and we'll work out a way of sending them accross.

Really? I thought the 2001 amendments were the most up to date, what are the new amendments, any links to them?

Yeah a really good lecturer at GCNS has made the website, still under development so it's always good to check it now and then for updates. I found it incredibly useful for my OOW. Take it you'll be doing your Masters orals in Liverpool?
