2 mates is about ?95 ish a day I think moving up to around ?140/?150 masters.

Not exact but it gives you an idea.

Putfords pay you when you're on leave as well as when you're at sea.

Do 2nds stay on ?95 a day or do they continue to progress to higher with time? And what are chief mates on ?

I can't remember what chiefs are on mate.

I think they stay on that rate as well, the rate depends on if a the ship does cargo or not as well.

Really its an OK wage considering with putfords when you qualify you'll get your 6 months out a year and they take each ship over to holland for a foreign crew change so you'll get your tax back.

The 95ish a day for 2nd mate is the cargo money.

Once qualified there are opportunities to "scratch" which is doing extra trips where you get your leave pay and your scratch money which is slightly more than the normal rate, I know even ABs scratching can come away with 5000 for the month.

All of those rates seem too low unless I’m missing something major, like extra money paid on top... or are these foreign seafarers wages?

As a fourth engineer I was looking at a minimum of ?150/day and as a third engineer ?180/day. Please tell me BPOS don’t pay lower than ?100/day :O

?95*365= ?34,675. As a starting salary once qualifed as a second ( As I believe Putford don't carry thirds) doesn't seem too bad of a salary to me ...

Oh right, you tend to not express annually paid salaries as day rates, day rates are generally for agency and weird paid staff who are only paid when they’re onboard...?34k a year is average, so not bad!

Day work more than likely mate. About 8-4/5 depends what the crew work

As a cadet it depends on the crew, you might do 4 on 8 off or you might do day work with morning on the deck and doing the 12-4 with the second.

                              Once qualified it's 4 on 8 off
