    Morning Sailors!

    Morning guys and girls,

I'm a recently qualified OOW who currently works as a lecturer in the area of maritime safety training.

Has anyone else recently qualified and successfully found an officers job straight off the bat? I am looking at heading back to sea in the coming months, ideally on passenger ships. Any success stories from my fellow new OOW candidates?

    Thanks & good luck!

Hi and welcome to the forum. I'm sure you'll find some positive (and negative) stories here on the job hunt.

Hi Young Mariner. A lot of negativity out there at the minute. Sad to say it's a struggle. However, one of my best pals landed a job on M/V Alucia (research vessel) just through knowing someone in the company. Goes with the saying, it's who you know not what you know haha.

I qualified last year and got a jobs straight away with James Fisher(cadet sponsoring company), as did another one of the Fishers cadets. Out of the ones that passed everything 1st time and didn't have to wait for resits ect. I think all of us got jobs straight away. From super yachts to tankers and a couple others on containers.
