Every year, hundreds of prospective cadets and their families descend upon Warsash to attend the college's open day. If you're able to attend, we really would recommend it!

What's happening?
There's plenty of opportunities to look around the campus, speak with sponsor companies, lecturers, cadets and university staff. Here's the official programme:
| Presentations | Presentations in the lecture theatre by senior lecturers on life at sea. (E = Engine, D = Deck) |
E: 10:30, 12:30, 14:30 D: 11:30, 13:30, 15:30 |
| Bridge Simulator | The full bridge simulators will be open on the top floor of Admiral Jellicoe building. | 10:00 - 12:00 and 13:00 - 16:00 |
| TRANSAS Simulator | Also on the top floor of Admiral Jellicoe building, the TRANSAS simulators are desktop simulation units used for teaching collision avoidance, passage planning and the use of navigational aids. | 10:00 - 14:00 |
| Engineering Workshops | The engineering workshops will be open on the lower site. | 10:00 - 13:00 and 14:00 - 15:00 |
| Coastguard Helicopter | Fly-past and winching demonstration, subject to operational priorities. By the pier on the lower site. | 11:00 |
| Sea Survival | Have a look at the survival equipment carried on merchant ships in the MOS Building (the green building near reception). | 11:30 - 15:00 |
| Engine Room Simulator | The engine control room simulator will be open on the ground floor of Admiral Jellicoe Building. | 12:00 - 16:00 |
| Fire Fighting | Fire fighting demonstrations at the fire school on the lower site. | 12:00 and 15:00 |
| Safety at Sea Demo | By the pier on the lower site. | 14:20 |
| Seamanship Demos | Practical seamanship demonstrations (bosun's chair, pilot ladders, splicing, knots, cargo equipment etc...) in the Seamanship/EDH room on the lower site. | All Day |
| People to talk to! | University staff and cadets will be available in the Hambleview Conference Room in Moyana Building. Careers at Sea DVDs will be shown. | All Day |
| Accomodation | See a typical cadet bedroom in the Blyth residence. | All Day |
| Food and drink | Available from The Dock and Mariner's Bar in Moyana Building. | All Day |
Sponsoring companies will be available all day, and there will be guided tours based on demand.
It may be worth bringing a few copies of your CV to show to companies.
The main refectory, The Dock, doesn't accept cards so bring some cash with you. Mariner's Bar accepts credit cards for purchases over £3.
So I want to go, what do I do?
There's no requirement to register, but it helps the college if you let them know you're coming. Just download and fill in the registration form and send it to emily.steel@solent.ac.uk. Be sure to mention you heard about the open day on OfficerCadet.com!
